The best sourdough bread is created through a lengthy process of 7+ rounds of stretching and folding the dough, all followed by allowing it to rest. The stretching process on the dough is not easy, but it is crucial.
God has recently taught me that humans must go through this, too.
He has taught me this through my mom.
How has she seen hope? She has seen it grow from within her through the most challenging parts of life. A beautiful pressing comes with stepping into life’s new and unknown things, and this is the best process for God to create the best sourdough loaf (or, in this case, the best mom).
round 1:
When she could have remained in a small farm town in Indiana after graduation, she moved to downtown Chicago for a career in the business world.
round 2:
Instead of continuing to have children naturally, she and my dad went ahead and adopted three orphans from Russia.
round 3:
A cross-country move to Texas
round 4:
Currently spends her free time climbing the highest peaks in Southern Colorado and guiding women through parenting unplanned pregnancies.
Round 5-7 and up? Only time will tell.
When life gave her the chance to say no,
she always answered yes.
May we all yield to the pressing that life brings so that it will produce something much more beautiful than we could have imagined.
